Richie MCaw and Graham Henry

The NZVBG (New Zealand Victorian Business Group) & KEA (Kiwi Expats Abroad) All Black Tie Rugby Dinner was held at Shed 14 in the Docklands on Wednesday night prior to Saturdays big game, the Bledisloe cup! I was privileged (being a big rugby union fan) to be be able to sponsor the photography coverage for the dinner. Meeting and photographing many of NZ’s finest current and past All Black players including David Kirk, Conrad Smith, Corey Jane, Richie McCaw and Jimmy Cowan and being in a room of over 400 kiwi’s in Melbourne was a buzz. Even a few brave past Wallabies were present including Matt Cobain and Fletcher Dyson. The night included a performance by Maori Cultural Group and the organisers created a really nice event on a cold Melbourne night! To view and purchase photographs of the night click here.

The Bride & Groom

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Bec & Niall’s Wedding, which was held in at St.Mary’s in St.Kilda. They chose the Bayview on the Park in St.Kilda as the reception venue. I have selected some lovely photographs from the day for a ’sneak peek’. Wedding guests who are interested in viewing more photographs should check here for an update.

Rockstar photos

Recently I did a shoot for the final showcase of Rockstar Experience, an opportunity for amateur or ‘rusty’ musicians to join a band, rehearse for 8 weeks and then play a live gig for friends and family. It was a great night at the Chandelier room in Moorrabbin (incidentally where the participants get together every week). For more information on Rockstar Experience go to our links page above. But otherwise here are some great photos from the night…

Shop Ethical

I recently purchased a new i-phone as my old phone was so old the batteries were not being made anymore, so I was ‘forced’ to upgrade and upgrade I did! Even though I probably don’t need all the ‘bells & whistles’ on my new iphone there are some valuable options and my new phone is far more user friendly.

One application I think is brilliant is the ‘Shop Ethical 2010′ application form the ‘App’ store. It is a great resource that provides information on how to shop ethically at the supermarket. In fact, I do own the ‘Shop Ethical’  little green book I bought from the bookstore a while back, however this i-phone application is much more user friendly to navigate.

Last night I went grocery shopping with i-phone in hand and wandered down the aisles checking various brands ethics ratings and shopped accordingly. You’d be surprised at how many major brands just don’t stack up and the level of information you can get with this app.

The only drawbacks to ‘Shop Ethical’ is that not all information is available on every brand, and information is not available for generic brands such as products ‘made by’ Coles and the other thing is that it only currently offer information on products at the supermarket. Bring on an app for other items such as electronics, clothes, retailers etc!

Of course, if you don’t have an Multimedia phone you can always source the book from good bookshops or buy online.

Local Football

I get the opportunity reasonably reguarly attend the local football league AFL games of the Highett Football Club, under 16’s. Last Sunday at Morleigh Reserve in Bentleigh, Highett took on Ormond under near perfect playing conditions. The Highett team welcomed four new players who played really well, but it was Ormond who played the best game on the day. I like to take the opportunity to take a few shots of the games and over the years I have created a great archive of local games over six or so years. A few shots from the latest game are available to view here.

If you would like to order a photograph from the game we are also offering one FREE duplicate enlargement with every print enlargement ordered.
