Working towards Greener Photography1. Neutralising our impact on the environment through change and reductionWe use digital cameras and digital workflows eliminating the hazardous effects of analogue darkroom film and paper development. This reduces paper waste, eliminates the use of water and toxic chemicals in photographic production. We lower our carbon footprint by working from a home office, reducing our need to duplicate utility costs and travel from home to workplace. We use for our electricity 100% wind and solar 'green power' accredited renewable energy We reduce our paper correspondence to clients by preferring email. When we do use paper we prefer to use Post Consumer Waste recycled stationery and reduce our waste by reusing and recycling. When we do print we print both sides of our copy-paper. We use rechargeable NiMH Batteries where possible and dispose of our used batteries appropriately by using accredited collection programs. We prefer the use of online technology to preview images, reducing unnecessary use of printing and packaging for previewing client images. We actively seek work locally and buy locally especially where the supplier is committed to environmental sustainability therefore reducing our ‘product miles’. We use in-built carbon offset programs for our broadband (iprimus) and gas (origin energy) usage. 2. Creating awareness through sharing of information to support the environment. We actively share information with our customers online through our blog. We enable sharing of information online regarding organisations, businesses and products that provide environmentally sustainable products and services. We continually seek ways to reduce our use and impact on the planet by seeking contributions from the wider community through our blog. 3. Support organisations who make a differenceWe offer our services on a ‘not-for profit’ basis to selected environmental charities. We actively seek to work with companies who offer environmentally friendly choices to their customers. 4. Getting involved in our local communityWe actively get involved in Clean up Australia Day in our local area. 5. Continual improvementWe aim to continually improve our business practices by We acknowledge that even though we are a micro business with limited means we acknowledge we have an ongoing responsibility to environmental sustainability and continue our efforts even though sometimes we are challenged by the lack wider industry support....
