Product Miles

Product miles are the “total distance a product or service travels from its original location to the place of consumption and (if applicable) return”.
 
Take for example, the concept known as 'food miles', that is a measure of how far food travels from the farm to where you consume it.
 
It is worth considering the effect of distance on the emissions a product or service creates in reaching the consumer. This notion of 'travel emissions' or product miles is increasing in popularity as an issue to address in the fight against global warming.

Although, the tyranny of distance is in many times being applied to products and services to address climate change with sometimes dubious effects.

It is really a generalisation and possibly flawed notion that the further a food product travels, the greater the damage to the environment. Primarily what matters most for conserving resources and global warming is how sustainably the product or service is produced in the first place! The travel of that food or product is a secondary idea and generally doesn't make up for non-environmentally friendly production.

So, even though we like to work within our local community and that in turn reduces our need to travel longer distances, we recognise that a photography business is based mostly on us coming to you wherever you are and that's why we implement more efficient steps to reduce our impact, for our travel and operate sustainably.
